My Top 7 Anti-Aging Tips

Working out and eating healthy foods most of the time will go a long way towards maintaining good health long term. But if you’re interested in skin health and maintaining a youthful appearance or glow, check out my 7 tips for aging more gracefully. I hesitate to call it “anti-aging”, as aging is something inevitable, natural, and it’s a privilege! If there are two takeaways from this video, consider building and maintaining fast-twitch muscles and collagen – two characteristics of youth that diminish with age.

1. Lift Heavy and/or Move Fast.

Fast-twitch muscles are the muscle fiber type that we lose as we age. This can be prevented by lifting heavy weights, safely of course, and by doing HIIT/HILIT. Opt for exercises that you can do with confidence and have a lower risk My favorites are barbell hip thrust, leg press, dumbbell deadlifts, pull downs, rows, etc. I also love kettlebell swings, the assault bike, sled, and stairs for hitting those fast-twitch muscles. Fast-twitch muscles are larger than slow-twitch, and can give the muscles a round, “juicy” appearance.

2. Consider a Collagen Supplement.

Collagen supplements can help with increasing collagen in the body. This includes hair, skin, and nails, but also connective tissue. If you’re taking collagen, look for one that has all types, not just 1 and 3. Take collagen on an empty stomach, and think about taking a small amount of vitamin C with it to help boost the effects. Some collagen supplements already come with vitamin C. so be sure to read the label.

Zeal is the brand, if you just want to look it up instead.

3. Use Retinoid/Retinol Products on your Face – and Body.

Retinoids can boost cell turnover – something that slows down as we age. It can also help to diminish texture, even out tone, and diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Retinoids for the face are common, but less people tend to apply them to the body. If you want tighter and brighter skin, give it a try. Keep in mind that results can be seen after about 1-3 months of using a product, as it takes time for the skin to respond to the retinoids and for cell turnover.

4. Limit Sun Exposure and Use a Mineral Sunscreen.

A little sun exposure can help boost vitamin D and hormone levels, so don’t avoid the sun completely. But when you’re out, especially during peak hours, wear a mineral sunscreen and cover up. The sun does break down collagen, which leads to premature aging.

5. Pay Attention to Fat Intake – Omega 3s.

Our standard American diet (SAD), is high in inflammatory Omega 6 fatty acids and low in anti-inflammatory Omega 3 fatty acids. Inflammation leads to aging. So, work on getting more Omega 3 and less Omega 6. Swap out farm raised salmon for wild caught salmon, for example. Pay attention to skincare items, as well, as Omega 6 applied topically also causes inflammation.

6. Supplement with Creatine.

Creatine monohydrate is still the gold standard for building muscle. In addition, it improves glucose tolerance, decreases cognitive decline, and improves mitochondrial function. This can help with maintaining health span for a longer period of time. The standard does is 2.5g/100 lbs. Alternatively, you can dose 1-2g per day instead to allow it to accumulate in your muscles, if creatine gives you stomach issues.

7. Red Light Therapy.

The last tip is not low-cost, but I’ve found it to be effective. Red light therapy can boost collagen, reduce inflammation, and help with recovery. I have been doing red light therapy for the last 2 years off and on, and have seen great results with it. I sleep better, notice skin health improvement overall, and a reduction of fine lines around my eyes.

I hope the almost 300K healthy seeking individuals here pay close attention to your great tips. Especially about seed oils, used by just about every restaurant, so if you eat out regularly. Seed oil gets stored in your cells which expand – fat! so when working on reducing visceral fat it becomes a battle if you continue consuming seed oil. We don’t gain more cells when we gain weight, we expand the cells we have. One of the keys reduce seed oils.

  5. I love you so much. I’ve been watching you for years!!!! ❤

  10. I was not careful in the sun when I was younger, and my skin is sagging now in my late 30s. I’ve been thinking of doing a skin tightening procedure, but I don’t know what to choose. Are there any treatments that actually lift the skin? I’ve been recommended morpeus8. There’s a spa near me who offers HIFU as well.

  11. Hi, Erin! I’m so glad I came across your channel. You’re such an inspiration and I love how you really explain technique and form for all of your workouts. I’ve been incorporating alot of your workouts into mine and I can definitely feel it! Your skin is absolutely beautiful and is motivating me to restart my tretinoin and red light therapy. Thanks for the amazing videos. ❤

  12. No sugar
    No booze
No drugs ( including pot )
    No smoking anything
    No bread
    No boxed food
Just eliminating those above will put you ahead of 80 percent of the population.

  13. I’m almost 47 and have noticed crepey skin starting. I started taking a collagen supplement and using micro-derma rolling and red light therapy. I also use a laser cap to help restore hair fullness. And of course lifting heavy things twice a week and doing zone 2 cardio.

  14. Fabulous…..thankyou ❤

  16. Thankyou Thankyou thankyouuu!!! For your help. Just found your channel and this is golden information very happy ❤

  17. Erin, I use the Mito Pro 300. I love what it does for muscle recovery. I haven’t seen much of an impact on my skin but that might take time ( I’ve only been using it for about 2 months). When you use it on your face do you use the goggles? I don’t always but make sure I don’t look directly at the light. What do you do? TIA

  18. @williambreeze2659 October 31, 2024 at 4:20 pm

  19. Wow, Erin you have not aged a day. I remember when you work out at Worlds Gym in Ocala almost 20 years ago.

Hi, Erin! Thank you for sharing your well researched tips, demo videos, and positive personality. Appreciate you! For anti-aging, I refrain from smoking anything or inhaling second hand smoke. I also noticed that mesotherapy with certified products with clean ingredients helps my skincare regimen. 😊

  22. I was taking 5 gms of creatine HCL for a mth and didn’t see a difference positive or negatively. I’m 115 lbs so 3 grams may be enough for me. When you say lift heavy, what does that mean. I lift in a weight range 8-10, 10-12 that I have to stop 1-2 reps before failure. Is that heavy enough? When I lift more I tend to not feel it in the target muscle, it’s more of an overall pump.

  23. Ok I’m 62 do I have any fast twitch muscles left?

  24. Love you too dear 😊😊

  25. 🙏🏽You are a Treasure ❤

  26. You are gorgeous and such a nice person. Your smile is beneficial for good health. Contagious in a great way. Lol I think laughter is so good to stay young and youthful too. 30. Thank you Erin for sharing your tips on being beautiful & strong inside & out! Hoping to hear your thoughts on botox and fillers when you have a chance…I’m in my young fourties and hear such mixed things on the matter, thus find it a bit confusing.

  31. @sheelaghbowcott5443 October 31, 2024 at 4:33 pm

  32. Thank you for these great tips. Can you recommend a brand of cream with retinol/retin for the body ???

  33. Thank you so much for this information. Some of this I knew. But some I didn’t, and I love learning new information 🙏👊❤️

  34. We have chickens actually their Easter eggers. Eggs are so good for you. We feed them organically for their health and ours.

You’re Looking good – softer – happier – good to see – keep it up – I’m happy for you – thank you for your videos

  38. Hi Erin! With heavy weights to help twitch muscle preservation; I’m hoping you can expound on that a bit. Specifically, how heavy? For instance, is it relative to body weight? Is there a percentage you should hit based on your BW and if so, what should you aim for? Or is it relative just to lifting a weight heavy enough to fatigue or push close to failure in the 5 rep range? If it’s the latter, can you use techniques that make a lighter weight fall into that category and still then hit the fast twitch fibers as well? So for instance, I can bb hip thrust 240# for 5 reps close to failure but if I use a band and do a 1/4 rep and 5 sec lockout pause at 120# it also close to failure at 5 reps. I imagine ideally it’s a good idea to do a bit of both but wondered if you had any data or even just your own experience on which seems to work better?😊 I like gym efficiency and train by myself so I always look for ways to maximize training time and not having to add more heavy plates is one way to do that so I’m always looking for ways to progressive overload more efficiently and safely. I always learn so much from your videos and LOVE how well you teach and show good form. I’m 55 and began serious strength training 5 years ago to treat skeletal pain. What amazed me is that weight training has helped me easily maintain a lighter weight where dieting and cardio alone failed – even as I entered menopause & battled breast cancer. Not to mention the mental and mood benefits. I’m hooked! For whatever life I’m privileged to have left and thank you for being such a wonderful mentor ❤

  39. Nice cheek bones and cute captivating looks with fresh lean muscle

  40. I am a licensed esthetician and can attest to every single one of these recommendations being necessary and good for women. I started ten years ago. And seven years ago added collagen with hyaluronic acid. I have recently added NAC it is doing wonders for making everything work better and my skin is showing it. A side effect of it though is I’m a little gassy and there is an odor of sulfur from my urine. I may go back to the IV clinic to have the glutathione directly put into my bloodstream so I do not have that negative side effect 😊

  41. "Such a helpful video! The ANTI-AGEING PACK from Planet Ayurveda is truly effective—my friends can’t believe the difference!"

  42. I had no idea about Omega 6 in skincare. Thank you for this informative video. The notes you included below your video were also super helpful. 🌷🌷

  49. My knees just won’t tolerate plyos or sprints anymore. No running at all since menicus tear. Lift as heavy as the joints will tolerate. I miss the intensity and find it very difficult to maintain my previous physique. I can do the sled still.
